There was much hype surrounding this 2014 movie because of the lead stars: Nicholas Tse and Chow Yuen Fatt.
It is about Chow’s character, a former Head of Security in Vegas who returns to his homwtown in Macau upon his retirement. His reputation as the “Invincible Hand” who can identify not only mahjong tiles but also cards put him in the unenviable position of being sought after by both the police (to tap his expertise) and the underworld (to take revenge) in not just Macau but also Hong Kong and mainland China.
There are beautiful night scenes of Macau and Hong Kong and the acting of Tse and Chow do not disappoint. However, the plot is run-of-the-mill and the visual effects appear to be far-fetched and unbelievable; everything seem fake and exaggerated.
