Edge of Tomorrow

Starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, I thought this 2014 movie could be quite interesting although I’m not a fan of futuristic movies and I don’t recall any raving reviews when it was screened.

Major William Cage (Cruise) has been ordered by his commanding officer in Washington to be at the front (Forward Operating Base in Heathrow) of a battle when there is a meteor attack in Europe. There is supposed to be a new technology to fight this alien invasion of a global war, but Cage is killed within minutes. He is then thrown into a time loop, and forced to train with warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt) and live out the same brutal combat and has to die every day, over and over again, until the battle is won.

Based on a novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, there is a lot of stunts, visual and special effects involving computerised and digital photography. Maybe computer geeks, esspecially those who play combat games, would like this movie; not me.
