The Best Of Me

Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, this romantic 2014 drama contains a lot of beautiful scenery, visual effects and many songs (more than 20, by the likes of Lady Antebellum, Spin Doctors, Colbie Calliat, Phobe Huffman, Elvis Presley, Irving Berlin and even country music).

Dawson Cole (James Marsden) and Amanda Reynolds-Collier (Michelle Managhan) were high school sweethearts (played by Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato) back in Autumn 1992. A tragedy separated them. Twenty years later, they meet at a loved one’s funeral.

Dawson and Amanda were to scatter the ashes of their 92-year-old friend. They were also to take care of the personal effects left behind by their friend. As they recall and relive the past, they come to a deeper understanding about the choices they’ve made.

By a twist of fate, they did not end up together, but “Miracles never die. They just live on and on in the heart of someone you leave behind” with Dawson’s heart living in Amanda’s son.

A classic Nicholas Sparks story.
