I had been wanting to watch this movie since the day I watched the trailer at the cinema last year. I must have watched it three times. I was disappointed that it was not shown at the cinema eventually but on Netflix, which I don’t subscribe. Hence I was pleasantly surprised to find this DVD at Woodlands Regional Library last week.
This is an imaginative potrayal of the first date between Michelle Robinson and Barack Obama in June 1982.
Barack (Parker Sawyers) is a young lawyer doing his internship at the law firm where Michelle (Tika Sumpter) is a tenacious second year associate and his advisor. It is romantic and makes for enjoyable viewing, what with music by co-produced John Legend (Start), Janet Jackson (Miss You Much), Teddy Pendergrass (Close The Door) and many others (about 8 altogether), including hip hop music and funk music.
