Lies

Her long hair flapping behind her

like a trail of smoke,

She’s like an actor in a play,

thrust onto the stage,

With no idea what her lines are

or the part she plays.

His handsome, twinkling black-brown eyes,

dancing charmingly,

His head tossing dismissively

and laughs amiably,

He hints of some mysteriousness

and complication.

A smell of lingering perfume

like lies in the air,

ugly and obvious,

cut into the silence…
