A Wife’s Lament

I’ve translated another Tang Poem by Wang Chang Ling (698-757) as

A Wife’s Lament

The young woman in a boudoir

never knew sorrow,

Dolls up and ascends jade tower

one lovely spring day.

Green willow trees at the roadside

suddenly comes into view,

She regrets urging her husband

to pursue power.
