Crossing Languages

At the end of The Leaky Pot workshop today, a piece of homework (which I think is the most interesting homework given in this series) stirred my boggled mind. The trainer informed us that there is a book that gives nineteen different ways of translating this Tang dynasty poem by Wang Wei (#224 in the 300 Tang Poems) in English. We are encouraged to look it up and borrow it from the National Library. But before I do that, I shall try to do a few versions on my own, using the tools imparted over the last few workshops.

As it is, I was all excited when I saw the poem in the above photograph because I had done one translation in 2017 (Deer Enclosure). Over the next few days, I will try to come up with as many different versions as possible. This is going to be fun!
